Profile: Meet Student Ambassador Jose Garcia

Major: Pre-Medicine

Jose Garcia is a freshman at Portland State University. He comes from Guanajuato, Mexico. A few years ago he came to this country without speaking any English, but language is not stopping him from working hard and making changes in his life. His passion is to become a doctor and see changes around his community to make it stronger.  He explores new aspects of his life and new ways to communicate with people of different cultures and background that allows him to expand and grow every day. The environment of the University, the great faculty and the clubs like MECHA, Las Mujeres, and USA Skill form a part of Jose's new life. Every day each of them gives him the support and push to keep working and getting involved in different activities around campus. Now, he has the opportunity to be part of the Student Ambassador Program, which he takes pleasure in participating in and bringing his ideas to a different arena of the University.
