The Cultural Centers at PSU, which include the Multicultural Center, La Casa Latina and the Native American Student and Community Center, create a vibrant community for students through multicultural programming and services in an environment conducive to enhancing student success through collaborative cultural, educational and social experiences.

Mission Statement: 

The mission of the Cultural Centers is to create a student-centered inclusive environment that enriches the university experience. We honor diversity, explore social justice issues, celebrate cultural traditions, and foster student identities, success and leadership.

 Multicultural Graduation

Date: Friday, June 14, 2013

 Doors open at 5:30pm

Program begins at 6:00pm

Place: Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU), Ballroom

Graduates must arrive in SMSU, Room 228 (Multicultural Center) by 5:00pm - cap and gown OR dark semi formal attire

Multicultural Center (MCC)

Multicultural Center is a place on campus for multicultural student to come together, build community and enhance their understanding of diversity. At the Multicultural Center we strive to develop leadership skills and empower students to use their voice for social change. The value of the MCC is to be student-centered and student focused. We also promote social justice, respect and embrace differences and commonalities, share and value multicultural history, traditions and customs. The Multicultural Center hosts recurring events such as Living Legacy: Celebration of MLK, Let's talk Monthly Series, Roots Festival and the Cultural Center's Graduation.

La Casa Latina (LCL)

La Casa Latina is a hub on campus where Latin@ students come together to build connect with community, develop leadership skills, empower their individual and collective identities, and services that support academic success. The mission of La Casa Latina is to attract Latin@ students to Portland State University, support their academic success, and provide cultural, social and academic services and programs that enhance the quality of Latin@ student life. The center hosts events such as the Day of the Dead and Cesar Chavez Week, All students are welcome at the center to meet new people and learn about Latin@ culture.

Native American Student & Community Center (NASCC)

The mission of the NASCC is to provide a "cultural home" where Native American, Alaskan Native and Pacific Islander students connect to other students, faculty, staff, and community members in an inclusive and supportive environment. At the Center, students may build community, receive assistance in support of their academic goals and explore and develop cultural identities and intercultural alliances.

The NASCC houses 6 student groups: PSU's American Indian Science and Engineering Society Chapter; Chinuk Wawa Social Club; Healing Feathers; Indigenous Arts and Craft Group; Pacific Islander Club; United Indian Students in Higher Education. Information regarding meeting times and events can be found at the NASCC's website and facebook page - anyone can join.
