THE OREGON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION invites you to the Nellie Tholen Fund Master Class Series with pianist Julian Martin FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 10am in the Lincoln Recital Hall (LH 75)
The Oregon Community Foundation is sponsoring a piano master class series by Julian Martin, distinguished pianist and teacher, through The Nellie Tholen Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation.
The purpose of this master class series is to provide a professional development opportunity for piano teachers. The class will be tailored to piano teachers, with Mr. Martin using each student's performance to give teachers tools and techniques to advance their teaching.
Julian Martin, a native of Alabama, first came to international attention as winner of the Montevideo International Competition. He also received major prizes in the Casadeus/Ravel (now Cleveland Int’l), Kapell and Bachauer competitions. In 1982, he was awarded the Collaborative Prize at The Tchaikovsky International Competition.
Julian Martin has served as a juror for national and international competitions including Jaen (Spain), Iowa International and American Pianists’ Foundation. Mr. Martin has presented master classes in Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Uruguay, Venezuela and the United States.
Mr. Martin’s teachers include Leon Fleisher, Guido Agosti and Nadia Boulanger. He has taught at the Oberlin Conservatory, Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and The Juilliard School since 1999. The master class series is free. Piano teachers are encouraged to attend. This event is open to the public. A reception will follow each master class.
