Neuberger Lobby remodel complete
New surfaces and lighting have given Neuberger Lobby a clean, modern look. Interior finishes were replaced, as were windows and signs. The remodel also added benches, tables, and low counters that are accessible to persons with disabilities.
Sustainability RFP goes online
Portland State's Center for Sustainable Processes and Practices is releasing a Request for Proposals from faculty and staff for sustainability initiatives that will enhance the student experience and build capacity in faculty research, teaching, and community engagement. A link to the RFP, including priority areas for investment and guidelines for submission, will be posted Oct. 28 on the center's Web site and on the Eco-Wiki site. A separate RFP for students will be released in the near future.
Broken city pipe snarls traffic on Broadway
A severe break in a Portland city sewer pipeline is disrupting traffic at SW Broadway and Montgomery streets through the end of the day Wednesday, Oct. 29. Dirt and pavement is expected to be back in place that day, said Cheryl Kuck, Portland Department of Transportation. The initial break shut down water and sewer to Smith Memorial Student Union for two days last week - closing food services and basement offices.
Dining hall designated for 'zero waste'
Portland State Dining and its food service provider, Aramark, are taking steps to make Victor's dining in the Ondine a zero waste facility. This means they will send wastes such as food scraps, cooking oil, and containers to recycling instead of to a landfill. Read more >
Last week to make benefit changes
Faculty and staff covered by PEBB benefits can still make changes in their health, life, retirement, and flexible spending options through Friday, Oct. 31. PEBB explains all on its online site.
Basketball season tickets on sale
The 2007-08 Big Sky Champions men's basketball team returns to the Stott Center Nov. 5. Season tickets for faculty and staff are $110 each for reserved seats or $100 for general admission seating. Season tickets are also available for women's basketball at $50. The team will tip off Nov. 1 against Western Oregon. For all tickets, call the PSU Box Office at 5-3307 or JoAnna at 5-5627.
