Cornel Pewewardy, Native American Studies faculty, will receive an award from the National Indian Education Association at its 40th annual convention in Milwaukee, Oct. 22-25, for "changing and improving the lives Native school children and impacting the dialog concerning Native education issues, both locally and nationally." |

Hillary Jenks receives award for dissertation
Hillary Jenks, University Honors faculty, received the W. Turrentine Jackson Award for most outstanding dissertation on any aspect of the history of the American West in the 20th century from the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association at its annual meeting this summer in Albuquerque. Her dissertation is titled "Home is Little Tokyo: Race, Community and Memory in Twentieth-Century Los Angeles." |
