Ken Coleman, a recent contestant on NBC's Biggest Loser, was on hand as more than 50 teams of staff, faculty, and students weighed in for PSU's own weight loss competition. Coleman, who lost 161 pounds, will tell his story at a later PSU FitClub event.
Portland State is joining more than 1,000 colleges, universities, and high schools in a nationwide, interdisciplinary discussion of "Global Warming and Clean Energy Solutions for America." Campus activities kick off Jan. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. in 338 Smith Union with a showing of An Inconvenient Truth and sharing plans for the coming year. The School of Fine and Performing Arts presents a gala concert in celebration of its new status as an "All-Steinway" school Sunday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln Performance Hall. To help Portlanders comprehend the scope of the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history, an exhibition—Waterlines—that draws comparisons between New Orleans and our city is on display at the Gallery of the American Institute of Architects, 315 SW Fourth Avenue, through Jan. 26.
