New Vice Provost for Student Affairs named

Jackie Balzer, dean of Student Life at Oregon State University, has been named vice provost for Student Affairs effective July 1. She will replace Dan Fortmiller, who has served as interim vice provost since July 2005. read more >

Event to honor longtime faculty and staff, April 29

Celebrate with colleagues their 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of serving Portland State at the annual Length of Service Awards Program Tuesday, April 29 at 3 p.m. in the Smith Union Ballroom. William Tate, professor of theater arts, is being recognized for 40 years, and honors for 35 years are going to Judy Ngai, senior financial analyst in the Science Support Center, and Primus St. John, professor of English. Sports camera crew on campus

Spring football is providing the action for a new 20-week cable television show titled Making the Team. A Comcast SportsNet camera crew is filming the team starting this week. The show is following Portland State football, its players, and coaches with the first show to air May 5.

Annual Friends of History lecture on Iranian Revolution

Iranian officials have manipulated the country's history in its media, school textbooks and even on its postage stamps, says Ervand Abrahamian, who will deliver the Friends of History annual endowed lecture Thursday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. in 296 Smith Union. Abrahamian, Middle East scholar and author, will discuss "The Crowd in the Iranian Revolution." The event is free and open to the public. read more >

Sign up for new emergency notification system

The University is now offering a new emergency contact system through 3N (National Notification Network). From systems off campus, 3N can rapidly send messages to phones, pagers or e-mail programs of faculty, staff, and students who have voluntarily registered. Faculty and staff golfers wanted

Join the Seventh Annual Faculty and Staff Golf Tournament June 16 at Langdon Farms Golf Club. The four-person scramble with shotgun start costs $63, which includes prizes.
