Big Sky Conference tournament Tuesday and Wednesday
The Viking men's basketball team has clinched the Big Sky regular season championship and will the host the Big Sky Conference tournament at the Rose Garden Arena. On March 11, Northern Arizona plays at 5:30 pm. and Portland State is scheduled for 8 p.m. The championship is March 12 at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the PSU Box Office in Smith Union at 5-3307. The first 700 students with ID will be admitted free.
John Glenn to speak at Simon Benson Dinner
Award-winning astronaut and statesman John Glenn will be the featured speaker at Portland State's annual Simon Benson Awards Dinner Tuesday, April 1, 7 p.m. at the Oregon Convention Center. Portland mayoral candidates Adams and Dozono to debate
Portland State, the Portland Business Alliance, and the Portland Tribune are hosting the first mayoral debate of the 2008 election season. Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams is scheduled to face off against Sho Dozono Thursday, March 20, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Smith Union Ballroom.
Lawrence Wallack, dean of College of Urban and Public Affairs, will moderate, and a chosen panel will ask questions on transportation, economic development, and public safety. The debate is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jesse Cornett at 5-5040 or cornett@pdx.edu.
Faculty award nominees sought
Nominate a colleague for one of four Portland State excellence awards to be presented during spring commencement and fall convocation. The awards are the Branford Price Millar, the George C. Workshop planned on community attitudes towards social equity
The free workshop "The Social Equity Factor: A Study of Community Attitudes, Expectation, and Priorities" is scheduled Friday, March 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. in 294 Smith Union. The main speaker is Lynn Feekin, Labor Education and Research Center, University of Oregon. read more >

Party this week with Dawn White and Dan Johnson
The Portland State careers of Dawn White and Dan Johnson will be celebrated this Thursday and Friday. White, director of International Faculty Services, will be honored March 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. Johnson, professor of geography, will be celebrated March 14 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Both parties are in the Smith Union Browsing Lounge, room 238.
