Dr. Weigand directs the Initiativefor Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation (IBPI) within the Center forTransportation Studies at PSU. IBPIleads innovation in research and education that promotes change to makecommunities safe, convenient and accessible places to walk and ride abike. She is interested in how we shapeplaces that support active lifestyles and foster community life in the publicrealm. She teaches courses on bicycle and pedestrian travel, design analysisand trail planning. Dr. Weigand has morethan 20 years of public, nonprofit and private sector experience in communityand transportation planning with the City of Portland Office of Transportation,Moore Iacofano Goltsman (MIG), Livable Oregon and the League of CaliforniaCities.
