Student advocating public health in her community.
I am intensely committed to my scholastic endeavors this term and am currently focused on coursework in Women's Studies, Black Studies Philosophy, and Public Health Education. My field of study is in the Social Sciences and Public Health Education.
Public Health is a highly dynamic and critical field of study that addresses a myriad of social, political, economic, and health concerns and problems, and offers solutions for local and global communities. I hope to complete a BA in Social Sciences and Public Health Education.
In high school, I successfully completed coursework for the International Baccalaureate program in Modern East Asian History, 20th Century World History and English and Literature. For a profession, I hope to work with homeless and low-income youth in the public-health and social services sector. My long term career goals include becoming a high-school teacher, movie star, fashionista and medical doctor.
I grew up in the oppressive heat of the Urban Jungle of Honolulu. After stints in various punk bands, anti-smoking commercials, and political talk shows, I arrived at Portland State in September of 2003. I enjoy radical politics and organizing, feminist thought, dance parties, slam poetry, theatre, and jasmine green tea.
This is my first year working for ASPSU. Student government can seem ominous--I hope to amend that and help make this organization safe and accessible for all students.
