Student leader giving back to the community.
A freshman double majoring in Political Science and Theatre Arts, Kento has been at Portland State since 2003. He chose both majors because he felt they would prepare him best for law school. Before working for a political non-profit organization, he plans to attend law school in Oregon.
PSU appeals to him because of its non-traditional history. He especially appreciates the fact that he can be a night student and still be a full part of the PSU community.
Kento ran for office as senator because he saw a lack of representation of non-traditional students in ASPSU. He believes that an effective learning experience is gained when students from all backgrounds have interests that are taken into account with the administration.
Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, he graduated from West Anchorage
High School in 2004. He moved to Tigard shortly after to live with family, and has been attending Portland State ever since. He considers Oregon his home.
Kento also speaks American Sign Language. His main political inspiration comes from Senator Paul Wellstone and he is an avid fan of the BBC World Service. He learned all of his fashion sense from GQ and Instinct magazines and cannot be spotted on campus without his iBook.
