The ASPSU President acts as the official spokesperson for the students as a whole, within and without the University. The President determines the direction and goals of the ASPSU and is responsible for the proper functioning of programs and governance processes.

The President is also responsible for coordinating outreach to the students of PSU and the recruitment of students necessary to carry out the purposes of the ASPSU, including the appointment of student representatives to all-university committees as well as other University committees whose actions may affect members of ASPSU.

The Vice President is responsible for monitoring the actions, proposals, policies, and procedures of all local, state, and other governing bodies that may affect PSU students. This includes administrative and academic responsibilities and procedures of the University for their impact on students. In addition, the Vice President calls and presides over the Student Senate.
