Please join The Northwest Scientific Association and the Cascadia Prairie Oak Partnership for an evening with  noted philosopher  Dr. Kathleen Dean Moore,  Distinguished Professor and Senior Fellow  of the Spring Creek Project.  Moore writes about moral, spiritual, and cultural relationships to the natural world. 

Her recent award-winning edited volume, Moral Ground: Ethical Action for a Planet in Peril, addresses these topics. 

Kathleen Dean Moore is the author of books of nature essays -- Wild Comfort: The Solace of Nature, Holdfast, Riverwalking, and The Pine Island Paradox, winner of the Oregon Book Award. She is also coeditor of How It Is: The Native American Philosophy of V. F. Cordova and Rachel Carson: Legacy and Challenge.

Dr. Moore will examine range of topics including: the ethics of climate change, the oppression of scientists, and leaving outdated, restrictive scientific terminology behind. Before Dr. Moore’s remarks there will be a banquet (buffet style) starting at 6:30 PM in the  Columbia Room of the University Place Hotel. The fee is $35 per person.
