Professional Development Program

This program is designed for mid-career professionals in government agencies and businesses who aspire to expand their professional horizons and gain international experiences. Professionals participating the program will have an opportunity to learn U.S. practices and techniques in their field of expertise, explore governance and leadership principles and practices in public, private and civil society institutions in the United States, and have a deeper understanding of U.S. society, culture, and people.

Program Highlights

  • 4 to 6 cohort memebers
  • 9 to 12 months
  • Living in the community (host family or apartment building)
  • English improvement courses; American culture and society support courses
  • Auditing EMPA classes and selective PA courses (such as cultural competency, leadership development, project/program management classes)
  • Special seminars: arrangements based on specific needs
  • Organizational experience practicum at the local government agencies and businesses with mentor support:
       - assign practitioner mentor for each participant
       - participants shadow their mentors for daily management of their respective organizations

       - reflection sessions by the end of each week within the cohort

Program Requirements

  • Relevant degree and work experience
  • Minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based test)
  • 213 (Computer Based test), or 79 (iB TOEFL)
  • Or minimum IELTS score of 7
  • Or minimum TOEIC score of 700
