Liz Wosley-George, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Counselor Education. She previously served as the coordinator for the Counselor Education Program. She is particularly focused on helping students develop effective leadership skills and increase cultural understanding in order to prepare them to serve their community's behavioral health care needs.
She has taught a variety of classes in Portland State University's Counseling Program, including: Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, Foundations of Mental Health Services, Multicultural Perspectives in Counseling and Crisis Counseling.
Her current research interests include Hikikomori, or social withdrawal in Japan.
She currently serves on the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, a position appointed by the Governor of Oregon State. She belongs to the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. Dr. Wosley-George is also on call for Providence Health Care Central.
