Summer Commencement is a shorter, less formal ceremony than the one that occurs in the Spring. The ceremony will take place on August 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. on the South Park Blocks, rain or shine.
This event is NOT a ticketed event. All of your friends and family are welcome.
Chairs are guaranteed for participating students ONLY. All others should bring their own chair or anticipate standing during the ceremony.
Wearing a cap and gown to the Summer ceremony is optional, except if you are receiving a doctoral degree, in which case the proper regalia is required.
Your name will only appear in the printed program distributed on the day of the ceremony if you officially graduate in Summer or Fall 2009 per the Degree Requirement's Office.
If you have applied to graduate and plan to fulfill all necessary degree requirements in Summer 2009 or Fall 2009, you are eligible to participate in the Summer 2009 Commencement. You can register to do so by clicking on the "registration" button on this website.
If you are graduating in Winter or Spring 2009 and have extenuating circumstances that do not allow you to participate in the Spring ceremony, please fill out this petition form and return it to the Commencement Office. Summer Commencement is capped at 550 participants and priority is given to Summer 2009 and Fall 2009 graduates. Petitions are subject to the approval of the Commencement Coordinator.
