Student Commencement Speaker

Portland State University honors students' achievement by inviting a student speaker to the ceremony. This year the student speaker will be selected by the Faculty Senate Committee:Graduation Program Board. We are looking for outstanding student speaker who can best represent PSU students' experiences by reflecting on the common educational experiences you share.

Eligibility

In order to apply, applicants must:

  • be undergraduate students;
  • graduate during the course of 2007-08 academic year;
  • have good academic standing (PSU GPA 2.50 or higher);
  • be able to demonstrate personal accomplishments, community involvement, and civic engagement; and
  • be able to present their speech for the Selection Committee between April 21 and May 2, 2008.

Selection Process

  • Graduate Program Board will review the applications and selected students will be invited to present their complete two minute speech to the Selection Committee in the week of April 21-May 2, 2008
  • All applicants will be notified via email after the initial selection process.
