The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Dean's Classroom to Community Lecture
The Dean's Classroom to Community Lecture is an annual lecture presented by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences to celebrate the connection between Portland State, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and the region.
Each year, a notable guest speaker is selected who represents both the spirit of the community and the academic determination displayed by CLAS students. The inaugural lecture held on February 25, 2013 featured the New York Times Bestselling author of Wild, Cheryl Strayed. To a hushed crowd of nearly 700, Strayed spoke of her grueling solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail and her inner journey of self-discovery.
