Pre-dental Post-Baccalaureate Program

Pre-dental Post-Baccalaureate Program

For students who already have a bachelor's degree but are lacking the specific science pre-requisites for dental school, PSU offers a post-baccalaureate pre-dental program that may be completed in one year (including Summer Session) of intensive study. Post-bac students, with sufficient background, start with general chemistry in the Summer Session and continue with organic chemistry, biology, and physics during the academic year, followed by the summer administration of the DAT.

Many of the strongest dental school candidates are post-bac students who come from a range of undergraduate majors. Students may choose a one-year preparation program, but it is strongly advised that they spread the requirements over a two year period. Competitive applicants will frequently have completed more than the minimum requirements in the sciences. Additional course work in biology and chemistry is strongly recommended. A health sciences adviser can help determine from which additional courses students should select.
