Sybil Kelley, Education faculty, is a partner in a 21st Century Community Learning Center Initiative Grant received by Portland Public Schools. The $20,000 Oregon Department of Education grant will support schools in developing and implementing enhanced Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in their after-school programs. Teachers from participating schools will collaborate with Portland State faculty and graduate students, as well as community-based organizations, to design standards-driven, inquiry-based STEM programming for summer and the 2012-13 school year. Funds from the grant will provide support for graduate students in the Leadership for Sustainability program in the Graduate School of Education, who will be supporting the partnership and educational activities at each school site.
