Advising & Scholarships

Getting a balanced and integrated liberal education, as well as making decisions about your future, requires planning and consultation with an adviser.

Adviser with student

To realize the most from their university experience, students must give thoughtful consideration to all courses taken. The College provides accessible advising, both in the student's major department and in the CLAS Advising Center. Faculty members and professional advisers are available to students who need help with course scheduling, in declaring a major, thinking about graduate education, and exploring career paths.

An essential resource for all students is the PSU Bulletin. The Bulletin provides information on specific major requirements, course descriptions, and University policies. The Bulletin is available online or may be ordered in hard copy. Additionally many departments have information on their departmental home pages (listed on the CLAS home page) and printed information in their offices. Another resource for advising is the PSU Advising home page.

The CLAS Advising Center is located on the 3rd floor mezzanine of the Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU), room M305. Greg Stoltz is the Advising Center Coordinator and he can be reached via phone 503-725-3822 or email: stoltzg@pdx.edu. If you need to access our office without taking any stairs, please use the "mezzanine elevator" near the "Information Desk" at the Broadway entrance to SMSU. Take a left as you exit the elevator and our offices will be straight ahead.
