Becki Ingersoll helps students transferring from community college better understand PSU requirements.
B.A. Psychology, University of Oregon
M.S. Educational Policy, Foundation and Administrative Studies, focus on Adult & Continuing Education, Portland State University
Becki has been at PSU since1995, and worked in both Financial Aid and Admissions, Registration and Records before settling into her current position as Academic Adviser/Community College Liaison in 2003. In her role, Becki works closely with students planning to transfer to PSU, and advises students both on the community college campuses and in Undergraduate Advising and Support Center (UASC).
As with many students, Becki's first year in college was quite a change from growing up in a small town. While she was a student at the University of Oregon she had the opportunity to work with the Freshman Interest Group (FIG) program as well as the Office of Multicultural Affairs Leadership team, both of which allowed her to help other students with their transition into college. These opportunities paired with her work-study job in the advising office helped her realize that she wanted a career in higher education.
Becki enjoys the her daily interactions with students and helping them to navigate their way to their degree. The highlight of her year is helping with Commencement and seeing students whom she has advised (some while they were at the community college) fulfilling their goals!
In her spare time--when not being a wife and mom and attending soccer games--Becki is the lead vocalist in a Christian band called Smells, Bells and Yells!
