Congratulations to students of Portland State University’s (PSU) American Marketing Association (AMA) on their recent success at the 35th Annual International AMA Collegiate Conference held in New Orleans March 21-24, 2013. The theme of this year’s conference was “Live the Marketing Life”.
As finalists, AMA students presented an integrated marketing campaign for Donate Life America to increase organ donation awareness and registration among college students. Their marketing campaign "Live Life, Pass it On" featured a campus ambassador program, a series of events including the Wall of Second Chances, extensive use of social media and a logo (right). PSU placed 3rd in the competition, for which the organization will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
PSU AMA also received an Outstanding Chapter award for their accomplishments in professional development and an honorary award for their execution of chapter awareness and recruitment activities during Marketing Week last fall.
Although many PSU AMA students contributed to these projects, the following four represented the organization in the case competition at the conference:
“This experience has enhanced my academic career at Portland State tremendously. It gave me the opportunity to get a taste of the real world work experience, out of the classroom,” said Muna Marie, AMA participant. Experiences like this provide students with unique hands-on learning and networking opportunities that will set them apart in today’s job market.
