Event: Friends of History at Portland State University presents "A Conversation with Justice Betty Roberts"

November 12, 2009 Starts: 7:00pm

This event is canceled due to speaker illness.

Join the Friends of History on Thursday, November 12, 7:00 p.m. for a look at Oregon Womens history with "A Conversation with Justice Betty Roberts." Reading from her critically acclaimed book entitled "With Grit and By Grace: Breaking Trails in Politics and Law: A Memoir," Justice Roberts will let us in on the secrets of her success as "a teacher, lawyer, state legislator, candidate for governor and eventually as Oregons first woman Supreme Court Justice." Roberts career began when the "Civil Rights Movement was in full swing, sentiment against the Vietnam War was growing and the nascent Womens Movement" was just around the corner. She bravely fought injustice and prejudice so that younger generations of women could benefit from the work of Justice Roberts and other trailblazers of her generation. There will be a reception just prior to her reading, a question and answer period and book signing by the author. Come and listen to "With Grit and By Grace" and bring a friend or your daughters and sons to see how far America and Oregon has progressed.
