Chiron Studies Teach Out (May 13-17)

Please note that the recommended deadline to propose an activity has been changed to May 10, 2013.

Portland State University’s Chiron Studies Program to host Teach Out

In the tradition of free schools, teach-ins, and happenings, Portland State University’s innovative, student-centered Chiron Studies Program is hosting a Teach Out across from PSU’s Millar Library (1875 SW Park) in the South Park Blocks May 13-17, 2013. The Chiron Studies Teach Out will be a free, public forum for discussions, workshops, performances, and skill-shares on a wide variety of subjects. Members of the general public are invited to submit brief activity proposals to be considered for inclusion in the Teach Out. There will also be open sessions during which people may sign up on a same day basis.

The Teach Out will be a celebration of highly democratic approaches to teaching and learning, as well as a means of building community and awareness around Chiron Studies and other community programs.

To present, please send a brief proposal to chironstudies@gmail.com, including:

1. Name(s) of presenter(s) and one contact email address

2. Working title of your activity

3. What your activity will consist of (activity format and description of 200-300 words)

4. The amount of time that your activity should be allotted (15 minutes – 1.5 hours)

Please send proposals by May 10, 2013.

An emerging schedule of presentations will be available at www.pdx.edu/chiron/teach-out-schedule.

This event is being coordinated on a very limited budget, and presenters must provide any materials that they will require for their activity. A chalkboard or wipe board will be provided. This is a low-tech event.

PSU and non-PSU groups and organizations wishing to sponsor or collaborate are asked to inquire at chironstudies@gmail.com, as are individuals who wish to help coordinate and promote the event.
