About the speaker:
Dr. María Ángeles Gallego is a tenured researcher and Chair at the Institute Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Mediterranean and the Near East, Spanish High Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), in Madrid, Spain. She completed her Ph.D. in Semitic Philology at Complutense University of Madrid, and has taught at University of Alicante (Spain), Saint Louis University (Madrid Campus), University of Cambridge (UK), and as a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at Emory University (Atlanta, USA). Her fields of research focus on Jewish history and culture in Islamic lands, Judeo-Arabic literature, Hebrew and Arabic Linguistics, and Medieval Iberia.
