Portland State University is honored to be part of the Ashoka U Changemaker Campus consortium, a select group of institutions of higher education that demonstrate commitment and cutting-edge approaches to galvanizing solutions to major human and environmental challenges.
Why did PSU make the cut? Simply put, the Portland State campus is awash in changemaking initiatives including the Institute for Sustainable Solutions, Impact Entrepreneurs, the Center for Public Interest Design, the SWEETLab, Net Impact, the Campus Sustainability Office, the Sustainability Leadership Center, reThink PSU, and many others—not to mention a passel of student-led efforts to make change, ranging from Take Back the Tap's effort to make plastic bottled water obsolete to the opening of the Bike Hub, which empowers the PSU community to embrace carbon-free, two-wheeled transportation.
In addition to providing avenues for students, faculty, and staff to become change agents, PSU offers social innovation training and opportunities to the broader community. The Elevating Impact Summit gathers hundreds of innovative thinkers and doers together each year to explore ways that everyone can find their full potential as a changemaker.
