In 2007, Metro
approached CES to provide assistance with waste reduction in
multifamily communities across the region. Through research and
outreach services, this project works towards the improvement of local
multifamily programs and the development of policy initiatives.
Additionally, the Multifamily Specialist serves as a liaison between
local governments and represents Metro as part of region-wide
educational efforts directed towards property managers and residents.
Renée B. Curtis is the Multifamily Specialist and project manager for both
MFS and MMS.
Metro Multifamily Field Services (MFS)
In
late 2008 Metro decided to expand the Metro Multifamily Outreach
project to include customized on-site field assistance to local
jurisdictions within the Metro region. An important role in
improvement of recycling systems is a quality site and community
assessment along with development of customized outreach strategies.
Staff provide these services to the cities of Beaverton, Gresham and
Portland, and Clackamas and Washington counties. Erin Anderson is the
project coordinator and Maya Hooper and Joel Hanson are field technical
assistants.
Metro Multifamily Service Provisions Evaluation Study (MMS)
As
part of a large-scale effort to investigate and improve Multifamily
recycling across the region, in January 2009 Metro launched a data
collection and site evaluation study to assess inventory of multifamily
communities and their recycling systems. CES has designed, implemented
and managed this study since inception. Erin Anderson is the project
coordinator and a graduate assistant. Aaron Wythe, Ashley Tjaden and
Patricia Davis are field technical assistants.
