Brian credits Portland State with allowing him to advance in the scientific community and connect with various professionals employed throughout the Pacific Northwest in private firms and state/federal agencies. He says the continuing education classes were particularly helpful and will begin the new Business of Craft Brewing Certificate through PSU’s Center for Executive and Professional Education next quarter.

Instructor, Athletic & Outdoor Industry Product Management. Ian Yolles is Recyclebank’s Chief Sustainability Officer and previously was its Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to joining Recyclebank, Ian was a co-founder of Nau, an innovative social venture apparel company. As Vice President of Marketing and Brand Communications, he oversaw the full spectrum of marketing activities that defined the Nau brand and associated customer experience.

Instructor, Athletic & Outdoor Industry Product Management. Austin Davidsen is the Global Account Executive for two Taiwan-based footwear material suppliers, Pony Leather, and Tai Ruey Fong. He works with an international team to design, market, and present world-class materials to decision makers across the footwear industry. His role is to manage the suppliers' relationships with the brand to make sure they deliver materials that are aesthetically pleasing and cost-competitive. Austin stumbled into the footwear industry after launching his career as a teacher in elementary classrooms in the US and in South Korea. Joel Bornzin completed his certificate in Digital Marketing Strategy at Portland State University over a year ago. He came to the program in hopes of increasing his digital marketing skill set and driving a smart online marketing strategy at his current job. Not only did Joel manage to implement several successful marketing campaigns, he also was selected for a promotion. His hard work and dedication to his craft paid off and now HE has a marketing assistant.

Student Success Story - Heather English Heather joined TMMPDX.COM last year after completing PSU’s Digital Marketing Certificate Program. Heather was reliable, resourceful and full of GREAT ideas. She started her TMM journey by writing in-depth articles and connecting with some of the biggest names in digital marketing. She very quickly became the ‘go-to’ girl when we needed to get something done. She was fast, eager and always willing to help out. Today we are proud to call her our Director of Marketing and can’t wait to see where she takes us.

Instructor, Lean Six Sigma. John Major is a founding member of the Northwest Center for Performance Excellence (NWCPE). He is also Founder and Managing Partner of Compass Strategies, focused on helping small and mid-cap companies to design, optimize, and implement manufacturing, supply chain, and service delivery strategies in direct alignment with corporate strategy and desired market branding positions. John recently stepped down as Vice President of Global Operations for Radisys. His functional responsibilities included design and implementation of a structured continuous improvement capability across the Radisys enterprise based on the fusion of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and Policy Deployment methodologies. Before that, he held similar positions with Planar Systems and Tektronix. John holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Washington.

Instructor, Advanced Digital Strategies. Ryan is the Web Analytics and Optimization Practice Lead for ISITE Design. He helps clients align user experience, business goals, branding, marketing metrics, and business analysis. ISITE leads their clients in strategic analytics and testing programs to help them increase the return on their digital investments. His primary focus is using testing platforms like GWO and Test and Target to run optimization programs directed toward moving the needle for my clients and unlocking trapped revenue from digital marketing programs.

Instructor, Advanced Digital Strategies. You won’t see the words “guru” or “expert” anywhere in Ryan's resume or profile. He considers himself a student; always learning and open to new ideas and perspectives. Ryan leverages his ten-plus years as a digital strategist but more as a way to get the conversation started and to ensure we're focused on actionable ideas. His sweet spot is digital strategy. It’s what he does best and has a good track record. He works best in collaboration with others whose strengths differ from his own. It’s how he learns and it’s what inspires him. That inspiration has led to some pretty cool campaigns and digital experiences. He's always looking for the next one.

Instructor, Advanced Digital Strategies. Steve started his professional career in internet marketing in 1998 before graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in Journalism, emphasizing Electronic Media. After interning with a local search agency in Bend, Oregon, he was immediately hired as an Internet Copywriter and Project Editor after the agency was acquired by global leader, Outrider.com. Here, Steve studied all aspects of online marketing for Fortune 1000 brands and saw firsthand the impact that consumer-driven media could have on consumer brands. Upon moving to Portland in 2000, he continued my career as an SEM consultant and Sales Director for Internet Sales companies developing local and national search campaigns for small/medium sized businesses.

Lisa Peyton Lisa Peyton
Lisa Peyton, Instructor; Digital Marketing Strategies, Business of Craft Brewing. Diving into digital marketing during its nascent stage, Lisa Peyton is today among the leaders in the field, particularly so in the Pacific Northwest. Based in Portland, Ore., she serves as an adjunct professor at Portland State University, teaching Introduction to Digital Strategies for the Digital Marketing Strategies certificate program offered through the university’s Professional Development Center. Lisa is an avid blogger and publisher, acting as Executive Editor for ThoroughlyModernMarketing.com, a non-profit publication she founded in 2009. She also regularly contributes content to Social Media Examiner and SocialFresh.com.

An award-winning pioneer in the world of online marketing, Ms. Jennett has immersed herself in interactive marketing and cutting-edge trends like social media for the past 15 years. Her proven methodologies and best practices in social media marketing are well respected in the industry and heralded as groundbreaking by clients and colleagues alike. Instructor, Human Resource Management. Dan Vetter, MS, is an independent consultant specializing in instructional design, training delivery, and human performance improvement. He is actively involved in the local training community and served as president for the Cascadia Chapter of ASTD. He has been the instructional designer of over 70 training programs during the last decade. Prior to moving to Portland, Mr. Vetter invested 12 years working in training and development, and continuous improvement at a Fortune 500 company in Omaha, Nebraska.

John Hartman John Hartman
Instructor, Digital Marketing Strategies, Advanced Digital Strategies. John has 18 years experience in digital and media strategies and development. He has run a number of successful agencies over the years working with fortune 500 clients to create digital and traditional media. In 2003 John joined the Digital Universe, helping to architect a web portal with the lofty goal of becoming “the definitive repository of human knowledge online." John became the conduit between the engineering group and NASA, Environmental Literacy Council, Earth 911, Cosmos Studios, The Jane Goodall Institute, M.I.T., Boston University, H.A.R.C. and a litany of other organizations and universities helping them integrate their data and designing tools to facilitate portal management. John went on to become the technology evangelist for the Digital Universe, traveling the country speaking at conferences on open-source and the platforms capabilities and contributors.

With over 20 years experience developing/delivering curriculum for workshops, seminars and university classes, Dr. Stebbins has developed an enthusiastic following for her training programs and organizational consulting work. Her clients include Fortune 500 companies, the Federal Government, colleges/universities and large diverse non-profit organizations. Looking for a way to help her organizational clients improve their abilities in implementing change, Dr. Stebbins is a licensee of Prosci Change Management Methodology and is a Certified Fierce Conversation Facilitator. She is a member of the Springboard NW Fierce Learning Community. She is successfully using this communication strategy inside organizations to help them make the case for and implement change. Tami Boedigheimer Tami Boedigheimer
Instructor, Human Resource Management. Tami Boedigheimer has an undergraduate degree in economics and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Portland. She recently held the position of president for Columbia Willamette Compensation Group, an affiliated group of World at Work, and is currently a group partnership liaison and board member for World at Work. Before establishing a career and consulting practice in employee compensation, Ms. Boedigheimer spent over ten years in corporate accounting and finance in the high-tech industry. Since starting her own practice she has worked for companies as small as 40 employees and as large as 10,000. Her work spans a variety of industries, including health care, high tech, banking, public utilities, and manufacturing.

Tom Fabrizio Tom Fabrizio
Instructor, Lean Practitioner and Lean Healthcare. Tom Fabrizio, president and founder of Lean Manufacturing Tools, LLC and a founding member of the Northwest Center for Performance Excellence (NWCPE), has been teaching leadership, team development, and Just-In-Time systems for over 25 years. He received his original Lean training from first-generation experts, including Dr. Shigeo Shingo (co-architect of The Toyota Production System), Hiroyuki Hirano (author and noted JIT expert), Dr. Ryuji Fukuda (member of The Sigma Project in Japan and winner of the Deming Prize), and TPM experts from Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance. Mr. Fabrizio holds an undergraduate engineering degree, a MEd, and a law degree. He has authored several books and training programs about Lean.

With a background in integrated marketing, Lewis left a public relations agency in 1996 to start his career in search engine marketing. Since then, he’s helped grow businesses by connecting his clients with their constituents via the Internet. In 2000, Lewis founded Anvil Media, Inc., a digital marketing agency specializing in search engine and social media marketing for Fortune 2000 companies. Under his leadership, Anvil has received recognition from Portland Business Journal and Inc. Magazine as a Fastest Growing and Most Philanthropic Company

Paul Spindel Paul Spindel
Instructor, Project Management, Business Management, Human Resource Management and Onsite Programs. Paul Spindel is principal at Paul Spindel LLC, focusing on management and supervisory development. He holds an MA in organizational communications and is a certified facilitator of the Myers Briggs assessment and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Instrument. Mr. Spindel has over 18 years of human resources experience with Marriott and Nike. With Tonia Twigger, he teaches "Creating the Life You Want" workshops. He is president of the Earth Wisdom Alliance and conducts workshops aimed at creating environmental sustainability, social justice, and spiritual fulfillment. His mission is to "touch hearts, challenge minds, and incite laughter."

Steve Zagarola Steve Zagarola
Instructor, Six Sigma. Steve Zagarola is director of quality for Cascade Microtech, Inc., and a founding member of the Northwest Center for Performance Excellence (NWCPE). He is also founder of The ZDM Group, an organization dedicated to the advancement of statistically based approaches for competitive advantage. He graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. Mr. Zagarola is Six Sigma Master Black Belt with more than 30 years experience in the application of statistical and modern structured approaches to the optimization of manufacturing and transactional processes, quality systems, and R&D for industries ranging from food and beverage, plastics molding, wind energy, and advanced semiconductors. Mr. Zagarola teaches courses in the Six Sigma yellow, green and black belt series.

Tonia Twigger is principal of Tonia McConnell & Associates, a cooperative consulting group specializing in team development, training, and leading change. She holds an MS in instructional technology and is a certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator facilitator. She has 20-plus years of instructional and program design experience in public and private sectors. With Paul Spindel, Ms. McConnell teaches “Creating the Life You Want” workshops. She works as a coach and mentor with people who are trying to change the course of their lives. Her mission is “behold, ask, learn, create, share, connect.”

He has led the Intel Digital Innovation Program responsible for driving online leadership opportunities between marketing and IT; he created the Intel Digital IQ digital marketing curriculum and is a member of the Intel Social Media Center of Excellence.

Lillian Tsai Lillian Tsai
Instructor, Conflict Resolution in the Workplace. Born in Malaysia, Ms. Tsai has a unique ability to lead, motivate, train, and retain executives, employees, teams, and clients of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Her work in diversity and inclusion, presentation skills, and cross-cultural competency on three continents has developed hundreds of mid- to upper-level managers into interculturally savvy communicators. She has consulted with Columbia Sportswear, Danner, ESCO, Intel, Nike, Ladies Professional Golf Association, Providence Health Systems, Marylhurst University, Multnomah County Library, Portland Development Commission, Royal Dutch Shell, Tektronix, Western Oregon University, and Ziba Design. She serves on the boards of APANO, New Leadership Oregon, and PHRMA.

Judy Clark Judy Clark
Instructor, Human Resource Management. Judy Clark, SPHR, CPC, is the president and founder of HR Answers, Inc., the largest independent human resources consulting firm in the Pacific Northwest. She has more than 30 years of human resource experience. Ms. Clark has been an instructor in the Professional Development Center's HR Certificate Program since its inception and is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Washington. She is certified as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) and as a professional consultant. Nationally recognized, Ms. Clark's experience with organizations of all sizes and industries gives her the broad perspective she brings to the classroom.

Ron Sarazin Ron Sarazin
Instructor, Project Management, Business Analysis, Onsite Programs. Ron Sarazin is president of Olympic Performance, Inc., a consulting company, and CEO of Process Path, Inc., a software company. He holds a BS in industrial engineering from Oregon State University and completed advanced training at the University of Idaho and Stanford University. Mr. Sarazin has held leadership positions with ALCOA, PACCAR, PGE, and Mutual Health Systems, Inc. He is an accomplished author and trainer, and his most recent publication, Action with Traction, is available on Amazon. Mr. Sarazin has been active in his profession and the community, and is a youth soccer coach.
