La Jolla, CA and Portland, OR – Portland State University (PSU) is joining forces with MadCap Software to ensure students pursuing its “Professional and Technical Writing” graduate program have clear competitive advantages when entering the workforce. The university is using MadCap Flare—the modern future-proof authoring and multi-channel publishing software that supports print, Web, desktop and mobile—to provide students with the most advanced authoring and publishing solution available today. As a result, students are gaining expertise in state-of-the-art technical writing techniques through hands-on experience with the software used by thousands of companies worldwide.

PSU is dedicated to preparing students in its English Department for successful careers through a practical knowledge of today's leading writing technologies. PSU first implemented MadCap Flare two years ago as a teaser, and has grown to integrate the tool deeper into its course load. After the great success of hosting its first Flare workshop last year, the university structured its current "Writing 526: Document Design" course to include Flare, exploring emerging usability issues and important technologies. Additionally, PSU plans to repeat its well-received “Writing 510: MadCap Flare” workshop in Spring 2014.

"I'm very appreciative of the loyalty, growth and success we've experienced with MadCap, providing a fantastic resource for our students to advance their technical writing best practices with Flare,"said Tracy Dillon, Ph.D. and director of technical and professional writing at Portland State University."We're thrilled to teach our master degree students modern technical communications practices using a leading-edge tool from a company truly dedicated to the education, advancement and innovation of specialists in the field."

“It has been amazing to see PSU students strengthen their technical writing practices with our software and have MadCap Flare become integral to the university's course structure," said Anthony Olivier, MadCap founder and CEO. "Our partnership with PSU is a prime example of a shared dedication to education, extending student best practices and opportunities. Through our MadCap Scholar Program, we can empower students with valuable knowledge of technical communications tools to ensure a competitive advantage for thriving careers in the workforce.”
