Library Media Endorsement - Practicum Information

Professional experience: practica

The practicum classes are field–based, supervised, professional learning experiences that take place in a school library. These courses allow a student to obtain professional work experience while pursuing defined learning outcomes, testing theories and applying skills learned in other courses taken during the student's program.  Students will complete two practicums, one during fall or winter terms, and one during spring term:

  • LIB 561 School Library Practicum:  Elementary
  • LIB 562 School Library Practicum:  Secondary

Please begin by submitting the practicum application and by reading The Library Media Endorsement Handbook.pdf

You must be accepted into the library program and the university and successfully complete Lib 534 Administration of the School Library or take it concurrently with the practicum in order to enroll in your work experience. You must apply for the practica by the due dates listed below. If you do not, your application will be delayed until the next term.

Practicum applications are due the term before you expect to register for the practicum.

  • May 15 for Fall Practicum
  • Oct 15 for Winter Practicum
