CEE Department Internship Program
The CEE Department Internship Program is a great opportunity for students to put their knowledge to work and earn money while gaining invaluable job experience.
How It Works
All students admitted to the BSCE and BSENVE Upper Division Programs, and MS/MEng students at PSU who meet the eligibility requirements can apply. Students have three opportunities to apply directly to the CEE Department: November 1-15, February 1-15, and May 1-15. To apply, students will upload a PDF of their resume or C.V. and have the option to upload a portfolio of their student work and/or a video of introduction. Students admitted to the program must update their materials on file with the Department at least every 6 months to keep them current and accurate. Materials more than 6 months old will be removed, and students will need to reapply if they wish to be considered for further internships.
Undergraduate students are required to have a formal resume review with Frank Goovaerts, Director of Student Career Success, in MCECS Student Services prior to applying. Graduate students are encouraged but not required to have a formal resume review. Please call 503.725.4631 or email email@example.com for information about upcoming resume review sessions.
A committee of CEE Faculty and Staff will review the student applications to verify eligibility. The CEE Department will furnish companies with the student's resume/C.V. and other documents uploaded with application. Employers then contact candidates directly for interviews.
Internship models will vary depending on employer needs and student schedules. Two potential plans for undergraduate students are as follows:
- 6-months full-time internship,
- 3-month, full-time summer internship, followed by part-time during the academic year
Students can work with an advisor to create a course plan to accommodate the schedule of their choosing.
In order to apply to the CEE Department Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- BSCE and BSENVE students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the required math, science, and engineering coursework
- MS and MEng students must have a minimum 3.25 graduate GPA
- Have a minimum of two terms left to complete their degree
- International Students must be eligible to work in the United States
