Profile: Meet Kelly Garrison

"Portland State's professors and proximity to industry ensure that our courses and research are both current and applicable."

Kelly Garrison, 2006 2nd place winner of our 2006 Analog Circuit Design Contest

Working with his advisor, Professor Paul Van Halen, Kelly's research focuses upon system modeling and simulation of analog integrated circuits (ICs). Specifically, he has been working to model interconnect parasitics on high-speed analog ICs. By developing system models and simulations that allow designers to observe coupling of signals between adjacent connections and in-band resonances occurring in the latest bipolar processes, his research activities seek to provide a new set of tools for pushing the state-of-the-art in analog application specific integrated circuits (ASICs).

When not conducting research, Kelly contributes to the educational goals of his fellow students as an extremely knowledgeable Teaching Assistant for the junior-level Electronics sequence in the ECE department. Kelly feels his academic accomplishments and experiences as a tutor helped prepare him to meet the challenges of the annual contest presented by Analog Devices, Inc. Kelly is truly excited to be a part of both the research activities and the academic environment here at the Maseeh College.
