Geek Squad Academy
The Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science and MESA are proud to offer the Geek Squad Academy @ PSU August 9-10, 2014 from 9am - 4pm.
Geek Squad Academy is a weekend long, hands-on learning program that provides local youth an opportunity to engage in the design and implementation of technology, sponsored by Best Buy.
Best Buy employees and Maseeh College students and faculty will partner teach students about the latest technology in a fun, interactive learning environment. Participants will select a weekend-long workshop such as digital photography, digital film production, digital literacy, robotics, 3D printing and digital music.
During Geek Squad Academy, participants will develop technology skills, inspire future education and career choices, and build friendships through activities such as storyboarding and producing a film, or collaborating on digital media projects.

The following subjects may be included in Geek Squad Academy:
Programming and Robotics
Students will learn robotics and programming skills utilizing the Lego Mindstorm Ev3 curriculum. Students will build their robot and write programming to manipulate their robot through a maze.
Digital Film Production
Students will modify a script, create a storyboard and film their own production. At the conclusion they will learn film editing skills to modify their film.
Students will engage in hands on class to cover digital citizenship and digital literacy, understanding the long term effects of their online interactions and how their digital footprint can last a lifetime and beyond.
Students will learn how to use some of the most popular music creation software by working together to create and mix music.
3D Printing and CAD Design
Students will learn skills in CAD design and engineering, creating a small three-dimensional object that will be printed during class.
Students will learn the functionality of digital cameras while improving picture-taking techniques through advanced photography methods.
Structured, non-classroom learning. Time for creative thinking and team building.
