Welcome from Dean Robert D. Dryden
The Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science strives to stay on the forefront, expand capacity, grow in national prominence, and continue to develop new knowledge. Our strategic plan for the academic years 2007-08 to 2017-18 clearly outlines four main goals. Our strategic goals include:
- Collaborative Research: Concentrate our growth to distinguish ourselves in collaborative and cross-disciplinary research.
- Experiential Education: Be a leader in rigorous, experiential engineering education by engaging industry and using the urban environment as a laboratory.
- Local Engagement: Have a faculty and student body whose engagement with industry, government, and non-profits promotes economic opportunity and quality of life.
- Faculty Leaders: Recruit and develop faculty who will be leaders in their disciplines, who can seed new collaborative activities and who are eager to engage the world.
It is our great pleasure to share with you the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science research brochure. We have made great strides in growth over the last several years and we are proud to share this sampling of the innovative research in which our outstanding faculty are engaged. Our faculty members continue to be recognized as leaders in their fields and receive prestigious awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) and Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER), for their research.
Recently, we were granted approval to begin offering a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. Beginning in the fall of 2008, all five of the College’s departments will offer doctoral programs enabling the Maseeh College to join the U.S. News & World Report College Rankings.
We hope you will become involved in the Maseeh College – whether as a student, an alumnus, a donor, an industry partner, or as a volunteer. Please join me in being part of a bold new future for the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University.
