A major in computer science prepares students for a variety of technology-related jobs. According to the 2000-2001 Occupational Outlook Handbook, computer programmers, computer systems analysts, computer support specialists, computer engineers, and database administrators are found in almost every industry. Many are employed "in the computer and data processing services industry, which includes firms that write and sell software."
