GA & TA Services
Feel free to contact CAE staff regarding support for your professional responsibilities. We provide consultation and resources for planning and teaching your course, working productively with colleagues, technology and teaching, dealing with difficult situations, classroom management, grading guidelines, and more. Consultation services are free of charge and confidential.
Inviting an observer to your classroom or laboratory session can be an effective way to get supportive and helpful feedback on your teaching. CAE staff take a collaborative approach to classroom observation, working together with GTAs on the focus and goals of the observation session. A formal summary of the classroom observation can also be provided, if desired.
CAE staff can work with you to offer a variety of workshops on teaching and learning issues relevant to your program. Recent workshop topics have been effective assessment and grading strategies, giving effective presentations, discussion facilitation, dealing with difficult situations, incorporating web and technology into your TA assignments, and documenting your TA work with the teaching and/or professional portfolio.
