When: Sunday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m.
Where: Columbia Park, N. Woolsey, Portland, Oregon
Please join family and friends to celebrate the life of Nicole Sangsuree Barrett. It is the night of the full moon and we hope to gather together for music, stories and camaraderie—all things that she loved.
We will start with a ceremony at 1:00. After the ceremony, we will have time to eat (see potluck instructions below) as well as an “open mic” where people can speak or sing.
Columbia Park in North Portland, specifically picnic sites E, G, and H. The park says that the picnic tables at these neighboring sites can hold 340 people, but we think it is more like 275 comfortably. There is space between and around the sites – if you are able to easily bring camp/folding chairs, please grab a couple just in case.
The food will be potluck style with an emphasis on foods you can eat with your fingers (so we don’t need to have utensils). Plates will be provided. We are breaking down the kind of food to bring by last name so hopefully we’ll end up with a variety of food. Please bring enough food for around 20 people. If everyone does this, there should be enough no matter how many people show up.
A-C = sliced cheese and meats
D-G = sliced/cubed bread, or crackers
H-J = vegetarian hors d’oeuvres (finger foods)
K-L = chips, pretzels, popcorn, etc.
M-O = veggies with dip (hummus, ranch, bean, whatever)
P-S = bite sized fruit (to be eaten with fingers/toothpicks)
T-Z = finger desserts (cupcakes, cookies, brownies, etc)
We will have several jugs of water and some cups. If you bring your own water bottle, that is great too. Please bring any other drinks that you would like to have. The park allows people to bring their own bottled or canned beer and wine but no one person or group can bring a large quantity to share; if you want to BYOB, feel free to do so.
If you have anything you’d like to bring to share for Nicole’s Memory Table, please do so. You can take it back with you when you leave.
