      Fulbright - National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship
      Funding for 9-months of overseas travel and digital storytelling for the 2015-2016 academic year to create multimedia stories on globally significant social or environmental topics including biodiversity, cities, climate change, cultures, energy, food, oceans, and water. Open to U.S. citizens only.

      Fund for Education Abroad
      Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled as undergraduates in US universities/colleges who plan to study abroad for at least four weeks between June 2014 and May 2015. Awards up to $10,000 are available.

      Global Studies Foundation
      Grants of $1,000 towards student travel on a study abroad program. 
      Candidates are reviewed in the Fall quarter, with award notification sent out by the end of the year.

      Study Abroad Scholarship from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

      CIEE Study Abroad Scholarships
      CIEE offers scholarships for students who are admitted into a CIEE-sponsored study abroad program. Students may apply for several scholarships at once, using CIEE’s scholarship application. Award amounts range between $500 – $8,000.

      Gilman International Scholarship - Scholarships for Study Abroad

      The Gilman Int'l Scholarship awards $5000 towards a study abroad program to eligible U.S. college student.
      An additional $3000 scholarship is available to students going abroad to study:
      Arabic, CHINESE, Bahasa INDONESIAN, JAPANESE, TURKIC Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgz, Turkish, Turkmen, Uzbek); PERSIAN (Farsi, Dari, Kurdish, Pashto, Tajiki); INDIC (Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Sinhala, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Sindhi); KOREAN, Russian & Swahili.

      Confucius Institute at PSU Scholarships

      The Soochow University Chinese Studies Scholarship (Deadline:  April)
      The Soochow University Chinese Studies Scholarship supports two PSU students who want to study Chinese and culture at Soochow University in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China for one school semester (6 months) or one year. The scholarship covers the recipient’s tuition and room and board.

      Schwarzman Scholars Program 
      for 1 year Master's program in China at Tsinghua University
      Application period for passport holders from 
      Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao is March 18 to June 15, 2016.
      Application period of all other passport holders is April 15, 2016 to September 15, 2016 

      Study in Indonesia

      2016 Summer Studies Program in Indonesia
      Sponsored by the United States-Indonesia Society. A 10-week Indonesian language and cultural studies program held from late May to early August, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Open to U.S. university juniors or seniors, currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, as well as recent graduates (within 6 months) of any U.S. college or university.  Application deadline is March 31, 2016

      2015 Indonesian Arts & Culture Scholarship
      Sponsored by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  A non-degree arts and culture scholarship offered for the 3-month period, March 2 to June 15, 2015. Open for both Indonesians and non-Indonesians.

      PSU Center for Japanese Studies Scholarship
      1-3 awards of up to $5000 for PSU undergraduate and graduate students currently studying Japanese and majoring in a field of study related to Japan.  Must be a U.S. citizen. 

      Bridging Scholarship for semester or year-long long study in Japan
      Offered by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ)
      Covers airfare and supports living expenses.
      Deadline:  early April for Study Abroad beginning in Fall;
                       October for Study Abroad beginning in Spring Semester

      Hokkaido University 
      Scholarship of approximately $800 per month will be awarded to 4 PSU students to study at Hokkaido University from mid-September 2014 to mid-February 2015.  NO Japanese language experience is required.

      Waseda Oregon Endowed Scholarship
      An award of $2,500 to be applied toward study at Waseda University in Japan during the 2014-2015 academic year.

       

      Study in Korea

      Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) Summer Program for Int'l Students
      4-week intensive program in Korea for advanced (non-native) Korean language speakers
      Dates:  mid-July to mid-August
      If admitted, the program expenses (tuition, room & board) are free.  Participants are responsible for covering their own transportation costs to/from Korea.

      CIEE South KOREA Scholarship Program for U.S. high school and university students

      Starting in the 2014-2015 program year Korea will offer 10 Fulbright Korean Studies Graduate Degree Grants that will fund candidates in master's degree programs in Korea. The award will provide full tuition support and will be renewable for all grantees who maintain satisfactory academic standards.

      Korean Government Scholarship Program for Graduate study in Korea

      Korean Government Scholarship for M.A. or Ph.D. study at the University of Ulsan, South Korea (includes intensive, advance level Korean language study).  Applicants must apply through the University of Ulsa

       

      Portland State University - University of Ulsan (UOU) Exchange Program
      with LaTU or TaLK scholarship option
      Portland State students can spend 1 or 2 semesters at the UOU.
      Students are required to be full-time enrolled at Portland State University; and pay tuition and fees to PSU.

      (2) TaLK(Teach and Learn in Korea)Scholarship Program at UOU, a scholarship program administered by the Korean Government.

          • TaLK Scholarship recipients take classes at the University of Ulsan and in the late afternoons teach English (15 hrs/wk) in an after school program at a rural elementary school near Ulsan.  
          • There are 2 intake periods:  Early February and  Early August.

          • Benefits:  Round-trip plane ticket, 4-week orientation, housing fees are covered, monthly stipend of 900,000 won, enrichment activities & field trips, Korean culture & language buddy, TaLK ID card allows free admission to 5 major palaces in Seoul.

        • Must be a citizen of one of the following countries where the national language is English:  Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom or USA.
        • Overseas Koreans with permanent residency in the above countries are also eligible.
        • Korean Nationals with temporary residency (with the intention of obtaining permanent residency) who have lived in one of the above countries for at least 8 years including elementary school are also eligible.

      The TAIWAN Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program  (MOE HES)
      Scholarship available for summer term, 3-, 6-, 9-, or 12-month Chinese/Mandarin language & Chinese/Taiwanese study program in Taiwan.

      Taiwan-United States Sister Relations Alliance - Summer Ambassador Scholarship Program
      8-week summer study abroad program focused on Chinese language study at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan City, Taiwan.  Scholarship stipend covers tuition, dormitory fees, all program-related travel and excursions, and accident/outpatient health insurance. Program is sponsored by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. 
      Program dates: June 30 – August 24, 2016.
