The
Drawing/Painting/Printmaking program provides a comprehensive view of
studio art practices, applications, theories, and history, with an
emphasis on trends in contemporary art. The first year focuses on the
foundations of art in design, drawing and art theory. In the second
year students must select an emphasis, in either painting or
printmaking, comprised of a comprehensive studio experience focusing on
the basic skills and language required to further develop conceptual
and expressive aspects of their work. In the third and fourth years,
students continue to develop skills in material selection, technique,
and application, but are also expected to develop their own voice and
dynamic approach to their work. In addition, critical theories and
professional practices in art are investigated to help students develop
a sense of placement within the artist community. Major Requirements
