The BFA in Art Practices offered by the Department of Art at Portland State University, is a competitive one-year program providing a comprehensive education in visual art practices, applications, contemporary theories and art history, with an emphasis on current trends in contemporary arts.

Requirements for application:
-10 images of current work (the utmost care should be used in the selection)
-Names and contact info of two references (faculty or other professionals)
-Minimum 3.0 GPA
-Resume
-Respond to the following three questions (200 word max each):
- What are your expectations for the BFA program and how will it contribute towards your long term goals?
- What are your thought on the relationship between the arts and other disciplines? What other disciplines influence your art?
- Select a contemporary artist and a specific work of theirs that you feel best characterizes your own artistic interests. Please explain why.
-Transcripts or DARS report for current PSU students (if not able to upload please provide a hard copy of your latest DARS to the Art Office by the date mentioned above).
The applicants should have completed a minimum of 72 credits towards their BA/BS degree in Art Practices and finished with most of their university requirements prior to applying.
