Art History gives students tools to analyze art and architecture and then to relate artistic expression to historical, cultural, and philosophical factors. At Portland State you can study art history through three undergraduate degree tracks:

1. Art History Major
This major is more oriented towards research and writing than the studio-oriented version of the major listed below. This is a great choice if you are looking to acquire more advanced writing and analytical skills, or maybe go to graduate school in art history or a related field such as museum studies.

2. Art Major with an Art History Concentration
This version of the art history major is intended for students entering professions that work directly with artwork, such as in art galleries or conservation.

3. Art History Minor
This minor can be combined with any major.
