Community

The School of Art and Design at Portland State University strives to find ways in which to connect to local businesses and organizations. We hope to involve and inform through a wide range of approaches. Currently our students enjoy educational relationships with the Portland Art Museum, local galleries and a variety of local businesses. Also, throughout the year we have many local artists come to campus to speak about their work.

In addition, we try to find ways to interact with the community either by cosponsoring a national symposium, creating an interactive installation within the community, participating in local community projects, or providing speakers for exhibitions at the Portland Art Museum. Further, many of our faculty exhibit and lecture regularly at local galleries and symposiums as well as work with other local organizations to bring in and support national exhibitions of the fine arts. The School of Art and Design is always looking for ways in which to provide the community with memorable and educational forums while making connections. We hope to establish long lasting partnerships with the community as we strive to educate.
