Academic & Research Computing
Academic & Research Computing (ARC) provides support for academic and research computing at Portland State University. This includes research storage, research databases, disturbed compute cluster access, computational computing access, programming, web based programming, and website hosting. Application level support is also provided for install and setup of research software on the compute cluster. General consulting relating to academic and research computing needs are also provided by ARC.

The goal of Academic & Research Computing is to facilitate research, academic and instructional computing, providing the highest level of support we can, with the greatest efficiency, in order to meet the needs of the Portland State University community.

The ARC Staff works directly with faculty, staff, and graduate students, both with immediate consulting and longer-term support for research projects and instructional tool development. The ARC staff also assists undergraduate students via the Consultants and workshops.

ARC support is demand-driven. We try to adjust to the varying needs of users and tailor the level of support accordingly, including offering expanding areas of support (when applicable), offering supplementary workshops and providing appropriate training to our support staff.
