Business Leaders Lunch to honor PSU accounting alum Mark Prater, Sept. 10, 2012

WHAT: The Portland State University School of Business Administration’s second-annual Business Leaders Lunch will honor Washington D.C. congressional insider Mark Prater as the 2012 Distinguished Accounting Alumni Award winner. 

Prater currently serves as the chief tax counsel for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. He recently served as the staff director of the 2011 “super-committee” that was charged with developing a deficit reduction plan. 

Prater will speak at the luncheon on tax reform, health care, and his experience working with the super-committee last year.

Last year’s distinguished alumni award winner was Scott Davis, CEO of United Parcel Service (UPS).

WHEN: Monday, September 10, 2012, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

WHERE: Kridel Grand Ballroom, Portland Art Museum, 1119 S.W. Park Ave., Portland, Ore.

BACKGROUND: Mark Prater earned his B.A. in Accounting from Portland State University’s School of Business Administration in 1981, and has served the U.S. Senate since 1990 when he began working for Sen. Bob Packwood. Prater currently serves as the Chief Tax Counsel and Deputy Staff Director for the Senate Finance Committee
