SEATTLE (December 3, 2013) Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Steve Hedberg has rejoined the firm as Chief Operating Officer (COO), the firm’s most senior business professional.  Hedberg was most recently Executive Vice President and COO at Aequitas Capital Management.  Prior to joining Aequitas, Hedberg had been a partner at Perkins Coie for more than two decades.  In addition to nearly 30 years of experience working with mid-size to Fortune 50 businesses, solving complex financial and operating challenges in his insolvency practice, Hedberg served in a number of operating roles at Perkins Coie, including its firmwide Management and Executive Committees.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Steve back to the firm,” said Bob Giles, Perkins Coie’s firmwide Managing Partner.  “His knowledge of the firm and its clients will be enormously beneficial to us as we continue to build and grow the firm.  His stellar reputation inside and outside the firm are tremendous assets and his most recent experience as a client of the firm gives him a unique perspective on client service and value.”

Commenting on his return to Perkins Coie, Hedberg said, “It’s a real honor to return to the firm where I spent most of my professional career.  I’m very excited about working again with so many outstanding attorneys and professional staff.  Perkins Coie is a one-of-a-kind law firm and I’m eager to get to work on the firm’s strategic initiatives focused on providing innovative legal services to our clients, big and small.”

As the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, Hedberg will oversee the business operations of the firm and will work with the firm’s Management and Executive Committees to implement the firm’s strategic plan.

Hedberg received his B.A. in Business Administration from Portland State University and his J.D. from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College, where he was a member of the Cornelius Honor Society.  He is listed in Best Lawyers in America, and will continue as a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Bankruptcy and a Commissioner of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s national Commission to Study the Reform of Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.  In addition to his professional career, he has been  involved in a variety of non-profits and charitable organizations, including the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Hedberg also remains actively involved in Portland Center Stage, a leading regional theater company, where he has served as board Treasurer, Secretary and Chair.
