Students with prior coursework or experience in French, German, or Spanish should take the on-line placement test. Admitted students can access the test under "Advising" on the Foreign Languages and Literatures website. Please review the relevant advising information after receiving your score.
Students with prior experience in Japanese may schedule a placement test by contacting a faculty member teaching Japanese. Students of Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Latin, Norwegian, Persian (Farsi), Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Swedish, or Turkish may contact the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department (393 Neuberger Hall, 503-725-3522) for placement advising.
