How advisors are assigned:
All undergraduate students and degree-seeking postbaccalaureates are assigned a primary advisor based on their major or pre-professional track's Advising Pathway. Your assigned advisor is listed in your myPSU account.
If your assigned advisor does not appear in your myPSU, here are some possible reasons why:
- Your assigned advisor may have left their position. You can meet with another advisor in the Pathway that advises for your major or pre-professional track. Please contact your Pathway advising team to connect with a new advisor.
- You are admitted for a future term. Advisors are assigned just prior to New Student Orientation for each term. You will need to confirm your enrollment and attend New Student Orientation in order to register for your first term classes, even if you meet with an advisor separately.
- You have not been enrolled within the last year. You will be assigned to a Pathway advisor after you re-enroll in classes. Please submit a Request to Reenroll form. You can find your advisor on the Pathway page for your major.
- You are a non-degree student or a postbaccalaureate not seeking a degree. If you decide to pursue a bachelor's degree, you will be assigned an advisor at that point. You are welcome to meet with an advisor in the Pathway that advises that major or pre-professional track.
- You are a graduate student. Graduate students are advised by faculty within their academic department; these are not currently recorded on the student record.
In addition to the primary assigned advisor, Honors students should meet with their Honors College advisor in addition to their assigned major or pre-professional advisor.
Exploratory/Undeclared students must select a Pathway and declare it using the Academic Program Change form. You will be assigned an advisor in your chosen Pathway.
Prospective transfer students who want to do some transfer planning may connect with an advisor from the Transfer & Returning Student Resource Center. They may refer you to a Pathway advisor or Transfer Admissions Counselor for more specific questions.
