Live on Campus at
Portland State University

Make new friends. Become involved. Living on-campus is an opportunity to thrive in an academic environment and enhance your education. Data shows that on-campus housing improves student academic performance and student success.

There are endless reasons for you to live in University housing. This newsletter suggests the benefits of living on campus and provides your next steps to apply for university housing. Remember, campus housing fills rapidly. Apply early!

Experts agree on the benefits of living on campus. Recent research of college students across the nation indicates that students who live on campus are more satisfied with their college experience, earn higher grade point averages, and are more likely to graduate.*

*According to the American Council on Education, “Students who live on campus have a 10 to 15 percent better chance of doing well in college than students living off campus. On-campus students have better grades, take more units, and are more likely to persevere to achieve a university degree.”

Live at Portland State to make the most of your college experience. After all, you are only here for about four years. Don’t miss out on all that Portland State offers in its vibrant living-learning environment.

Portland State students living on campus experience everything the city of Portland has to offer. That might mean buying fresh veggies at the Farmer's Market, studying in the Park Blocks or riding the streetcar to Powell's City of Books.

Campus residents choose between 10 different buildings located on the Portland State University campus. As part of the PSU campus community you will participate in the Residence Housing Association, grow your own food in the community garden and utilize student services at your convenience. For more specific information about buildings and rates, check out www.housing.pdx.edu

Want to arrange for University Housing? Here’s how!

Step 1: Confirm your eligibility. Campus housing residents must enroll in a minimum of eight credit hours each term. If you’re unsure about your eligibility, please call the University Housing Office at 503-725-4375.

Step 2: Determine which of our 10 buildings interest you. Choices range from traditional furnished double studio rooms in LEED certified green buildings to single unfurnished one-bedrooms in historic buildings and, everything in between.

Visit our website www.housing.pdx.edu to learn more about all of our buildings. If you’re visiting Portland, take a housing tour. Daily housing tours visit show rooms in The Broadway and Ondine buildings each Monday through Friday at 1:00 pm.

Step 3: Know the contract. The University Housing Contract is a legally binding agreement. Please read the contract Terms and Conditions before signing anything. You can find the contract, as well as the Terms and Conditions, on the University Housing website.

Step 4: Once you’ve determined that University Housing is the right fit for you, submit your contract. Room assignments are made based on date of receipt of the contract. Make sure you submit your contract as soon as possible because campus housing is limited.
