Admission Application Deadlines

Applicants to graduate programs at Portland State must apply to both the University and to their graduate department. Some graduate departments have established application deadlines that are earlier than those posted below. Please adhere to the department's application deadline and submit both application packages by that date.

University Applications

Portland State accepts applications for admission on a rolling basis each term and does not adhere to firm deadlines; however we do give priority to complete applications that are submitted by the following dates:

FALL: March 1
WINTER: July 1
SPRING: November 1
SUMMER: February 1

Application Processing Timeline

International Admissions staff begin processing applications when all required transcripts and academic credentials have been received.

• If you are submitting transcripts from U.S. schools only, allow at least 6 weeks for processing.
• If you are submitting transcripts from schools outside the U.S., allow at least 10 weeks for processing.

Applicants residing outside the U.S. are encouraged to apply at least six months in advance of their expected enrollment date to allow time to mail admission and immigration materials.

Program Applications

Submit departmental admission applications by the deadline posted by the department. Graduate departments make admission decisions prior to the University doing so. Once your department notifies the Office of Admissions that you have been accepted to their program, International Admissions staff process your application for admission to the University.
